CINCINNATI

During a camping trip in the early 90s, author J.L. Simmons was shocked at how many young campers would disobey their parents and sneak out of their tents. His frustration grew when a young boy was thrown from his bike and badly injured. Simmons decided to help parents out through the telling of a creepy tale - a tale that would turn into his debut book.

Simmons invites parents and young readers alike to experience his new book "The Hand" (published by Trafford Publishing), which tells the chilling tale of young campers and an unfortunate run in with the Hand.

"Bad things can happen to good people and often do whenever they neglect to practice precaution," Simmons says.

While hearing a story told around the campfire, a group of young friends learn of an unresolved incident that occurred at the park, where two men had been murdered in the primitive camp area. The deaths left behind many unresolved questions, assumptions and speculations. More disturbing than their deaths, is what the deceased left behind - something that continues to elude campground security and haunt the park by night.

In "The Hand," young readers are challenged to listen to the wisdom of their parents while older readers are reminded to plan for the unexpected. Those who refuse to listen and plan are destined to relive the same horrific fate of the deceased men and more importantly, encounter the haunting thing the dead left behind.
