Seven years after J.K. Rowling made the announcement that she, "always thought of Dumbledore as gay," fans are still responding with incredulous remarks about Harry Potter's beloved headmaster.

According to People.com, fan Frank Fraticelli tweeted to the author, "once u revealed Bumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan. Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $." Rowling responded, "I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once. He's much more your kind of person."

Souter reportedly contributed funds to a campaign to not repeal Section 2A of the Local Government Act, which states that the local government, "shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality" or "promote the teaching in any maintain school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship."

Rowling further tweeted, "I want to thank all the people tweeting me lovely messages. Don't worry about me - to paraphrase Albus Dumbledore ..."

In a Q&A in 2007, Rowling said, "Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was."

She also said, "I was in a script read-through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying he knew a girl once, [and] I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter: 'Dumbledore's gay!' "
