JHP are publishing Robert Southing's second book, The Snake and the Condor, under their Roundfire imprint on 26th June as a paperback and an e-book.
The Snake and the Condor is a Romeo and Juliet story set in London and South America at the time of Pinochet's dictatorship in Chile. It is a story of love and adventure. It also exposes the tyranny, poverty and exploitation that ravage a continent where heaven and hell meet and suffering looks beauty in the face.
The Snake and the Condor has already had an enthusiastic endorsement from Andrea Ashworth, bestselling author and book reviewer for Harper's and Vogue, and no less encouraging pre-publication reviews from a London-based national and a French newspaper; these are quoted in the attached leaflet and JHP advance information sheet.
As part of my research I spent several months in Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, living with indigenous South Americans well below the poverty line and exploring the shanty-towns of Lima. Full biographical details can be found on my Website, www.RobertSoutham.co.uk, which also has a blog on South America generously illustrated with photos.
The Website includes details of an earlier novel, Aïsha's Jihad, which is still selling steadily from www.fmoxford.co.uk because of its continuing relevance to the situation in the Middle East. It remains a set book for Swiss sixth forms and at French universities.
The Snake and the Condor has been categorized as Fiction (General; Romance; Suspense; Action and Adventure). It is suitable for adults and younger readers from sixteen upwards.
