When Karen Westgate wakes up to find war ravaging her land, she decides to abandon her normal life and hunt down a man who cannot be molded by society. Paired with the schizophrenic murderer, who had ruined her life nine years ago, and her disillusioned brother, the youngest generation of the royal families embarks on an adventure against: an ancient, enigmatic enemy that will test their sanity. She will find herself trapped with the madman who shatters her limits and unfolds a decade-old conspiracy, forcing her to question the meaning of her life, the war, and the mad animal who she loved years ago.

When the war breaks out in Somnia, the youngest daughter of one of the royal families sets out to capture the runaway son of the ruler. What she hoped would be the nation's greatest asset against the enemy slowly becomes her worst nightmare and shatters her limits, inciting madness and reminding her of the dream life they both lost years ago. Karen Westgate is the future female ruler of Somnia. She uses the war as an excuse to capture Blake Wyld, the man who tore her heart almost a decade ago and ran away. With Blake and her brother united, they join forces and enter a ruthless match against a smarter outsider enemy that knows them better than they know themselves. Along the way, she becomes a victim of Blake's manipulation and reminisces how she always was his lamb and was led to the slaughter. Meanwhile, Richard Westgate, Karen's brother, is the first member of the Lost Generation: a forgotten group of individuals that was sentenced to damnation after rebelling against the old regime. He was always Blake's best friend and is the only character that has a healthy relationship with him. This valuable trait makes Richard the bridge between the often lunatic Blake and the rest of the characters.

This book offers an epic story filled with twists and interesting characters that resonate with each other. Its story is very focused on dialogue and is easy to read but impossible to predict. The family storyline is very appealing as it dramatizes common conflicts and glorifies rebellion. It explores the way men manipulate women and vice-versa.

The Tantibian by author J.F. Sampaio showcases a world that is being engulfed by war with an unknown enemy wherein the youngest generation of the royal families can save. The escapist plot marvels the reader while simultaneously showing the ways men and women deceive and manipulate each other into fulfilling secret agendas.
