NORTH HAMPTON, New Hampshire

New York Police Department Captain Mark Winslow, a former Montana sheriff, moves to Manhattan after the horrific death of his wife and son in a car accident. Celibate for six years, he meets and falls in love with attorney Kristen Miller, who lives in a Park Avenue high-rise apartment.

In the new romantic fiction by author J. Allan Woodard titled "Once Upon A High-Rise" (published by iUniverse), a man learns to love again, but not without adversity.

"It's not the usual wishy-washy romance where the reader is supposed to wonder throughout the story, 'Will they?' or 'Won't they?' when the reader knows they will," Woodard says of his book.

"Once Upon A High-Rise" follows Cpt. Winslow as he attempts to capture two psychopathic rapists while juggling his love life, family and friends and raising his precocious 6-year-old daughter, Pamela.

When his search for these psychopaths turns into a fight for his newfound love Kristen's safety, he must find it within himself to rescue her and put his fear of loss behind him. Will he rescue her in time?
