COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.

According to Psychology Today, bullying is a distinctive pattern of deliberately harming and humiliating others. Author Isabel Peña has always been drawn to the issue of bullying and she felt that this is a topic that children can relate to today. In her publication, "Bye Bye Bully" (published by Xlibris), she teaches young readers that life is all about their attitude and the choices they make.

This book tells a story about how a freak accident made a bully and her victim become the best of friends. When Amanda Muse started junior high in a new school far from home, she met Mildred Riley, a known bully who targeted Amanda from day one. But a sheer dint of serendipity led Mildred into Amanda's home where Mildred was exposed to light, structure, responsibilities, and most importantly, love. Mildred learned that there is no such thing as a "problem free" family and Amanda learned that many times, the aggressor is most likely a victim themselves. It was there where these two girls who could not bear the sight of each other, learned to be as close as sisters. It was through their love and example that many people's lives changed all for the better.

Although intended to delve into the topic of bullying, "Bye Bye Bully" also teaches readers about compassion, not judging others and seeing past people's action. It helps them get to the root of the problem to better understand bad behavior.
