In an effort to entertain and inform, author Inés Caraveaux has written her new children's book, "Jungle Kids" (published by Trafford Publishing), featuring plant creatures exploring their jungle's flora and fauna.

In the fictional jungle Capacumbí, a meteor passes overhead dropping sparkles that land on seeds, sprouting them into human-like plants. Jemadi, Tara, Bila, Zagu and Baby Mema find they can walk and talk. They begin to explore the jungle around them. Along the way, they find forest creatures like jaguars and orangutans and learn more about the environment they live in. Ultimately, they come to realize that nature is a beautiful, wonderful thing.

Caraveaux hopes readers will be inspired to look at their own conservation and preservation efforts. She believes by showing the point of view of plants who can talk, young children will begin considering how their actions can hurt or help plants and animals.

"What I want readers young and old to take away from my characters is that we can keep that sense of child in us," Caraveaux says, "and we can try to contribute as much as we can to help our environment and thus help ourselves."
