"Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape" tells the life story of a blue-collar racehorse who overcame a devastating illness to survive and inspire thousands around the globe who were facing their own struggles. Hayley Mullins resides in Erlanger, Kentucky, where she is a high school senior at Heritage Academy. Upon graduation, the illustrator plans to attend Lipscomb University and study Visual Development and Animation.

Miranda N. Prather lived in Northern Kentucky from 1983 to 1993, when her family moved from New Orleans, LA, to Independence, KY. In Kentucky, Prather attended Kenton Elementary, Twenhofel Middle School and graduated from Simon Kenton High School. During her time in Kentucky, the author took horseback riding lessons and owned another off-track Thoroughbred named Beble.

Turfway Park has a long history of delighting horse racing enthusiasts in the Northern Kentucky area. In fact, Prather recalls watching races when she was growing up there, and now, Mullins does the same. The track is renowned for its history of innovation while keeping the traditions of the Sport of Kings alive and well in the Bluegrass State. In addition, Turfway Park has been a leader in Thoroughbred aftercare, first establishing a surrender stall in 2008 and later implementing the Turfway Aftercare Program, which funds Kentucky-based accredited retraining and rehoming facilities.
