According to ABC News, genealogy is the second most popular hobby in the U.S. But for author Arnold Palmer, it turned into a lifelong passion and career.
Palmer's new novel, "In Their Footsteps," is a genealogical compilation that explores the rich history and geography of approximately 900 individuals who once lived in northern areas of the East Coast and New Brunswick, Canada. The novel also tells the story of Samuel Benson Leydecker, an American who favored the British during the Revolutionary War and later exiled himself in the wilderness of New Brunswick.
"The book is a product of more than 40 years of ancestral research," Palmer said. "It tells the story of two of my paternal lines that are now traceable to 17th-century England and the Netherlands."
Palmer's strong suit has long been genealogical research, as he spent over 45 years as a family historian. In the novel "In Their Footsteps," Palmer uses his expertise to tell detailed stories of the past and highlight the importance of family history.
