In rare instances, there have been reported cases of opposite-sex identical twins. James A. Gauthier's new book, "Ian & Eli: Near Identical Twins - Their Story" (published by Trafford Publishing), is based on the remarkable lives of a pair of such twins - Ian and Eli Gehardi.
Gauthier is a close friend of, and lawyer for, the Gehardi family. Through Ian and Eli's (pronounced "Ellie") personal journals, the journals belonging to their mother and father - Lisa and Hans - and the Gehardi medical records, Gauthier documents Ian and Eli's lives and what they endured because of their identical likenesses. All names have been changed, but Gauthier has preserved the circumstances of the Gehardis' life events.
"Ian & Eli" recalls 26 years of Gehardi family history, starting with Lisa's pregnancy. It documents Ian and Eli's younger years, including all of the medical testing and psychological evaluations they endured at different stages of development, starting at birth. Ian and Eli displayed exemplary intelligence throughout their lives, graduating from medical school before they were old enough to drive; their intellectual quotients clock in above 160.
The twins display abilities outside the normal limits of human development. Their hearts are synchronized and they share a love for each other that normal boy-girl relationships typically can't deal with. Ian and Eli choose to live together as life partners, and are presented with the opportunity to adopt a baby girl, whose heart they discover matches their synchronized heartbeats. Baby Hayden shares in the twins' cognitive abilities and has a 144 IQ. Readers can learn more about their extraordinary lives in "Ian & Eli."
