Sophie loves to walk in the garden. She picks pink petals from a rose, gold petals from a lily, purple flowers from a hyacinth and little white bells from lilies of the valley. Every day, Sophie's mind always travels in another world - the land of the magical and beautiful fairies. She uses the petals, flowers and bells to create things for the fairy village. She thinks that the beautiful fairies are the same from the stories she reads in her library book. Sophie always dreams of seeing the little fairies. She wants to witness their beauty and precious gifts. She even makes a fairy house made of bark and flower petals for them. On one rainy day, Sophie moves the little fairy houses that she made to a shed so that it will not be destroyed by the storm. Suddenly, something magical happened. A small door opens in a maple tree and there appears a little winged being, dressed in a pastel party dress with clear fluttering wings and tiny silvery shoes. This little fairy will talk to her and ask her if she can come to their magical land. Will Sophie accept the little fairy's invitation and go to the fairy land?
Sophie's Gifts from the Fairies is a loveable adventure story for children and children at heart. It is a refreshing and enchanting narrative that makes readers realize that dreams do come true and wishes do happen if one would believe and have faith.
