Hooks Book Events announces a public discussion with Dr. Paul Farmer on his new book, To Repair The World. The author event and book signing will take place at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC, Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Sixth and I website.

Paul Farmer, M.D., Ph.D., is Kolokotrones University Professor at Harvard University and Chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is Chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and co-founder of Partners In Health. He also serves at the United Nations Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Community Based Medicine and Lessons from Haiti. Dr. Farmer and his colleagues have pioneered novel, community based treatment strategies that demonstrate the delivery of high-quality health care in resource-poor settings. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

A portion of event proceeds will be donated to Partners In Health, the non-profit organization that provides a preferential option for the poor in health care. Books will be available for purchase onsite, and Dr. Farmer will be signing books after the event..
