Holy Fire Publishing (http://www.christianpublish.com) releases a new book "Defeating Evil: My Testimony to You" (Paperback, U.S. $26.95, ISBN: 978-1-60383-478-0). Donald L. Scarborough shares his path from drug addiction and homelessness to a new life with Jesus Christ.
Donald L. Scarborough, of Native and African American descent, shares his experiences of his early childhood spent playing outdoors with siblings and friends, surrounded by extended family, and hearing the stories of generations of his family's roots in Red Bird and Haskel, Okla., one of the state's small, historic "black" towns. He shares how discrimination, sin, addictions, and eventually God's grace influenced his life.
"Defeating Evil: My Testimony to You" concerns Scarborough's life, struggles and triumphs in overcoming a life of addiction and evil influence, through his acceptance of Christ and biblical principles. He shares how his life experiences affected his relationship with God, helping him to grow in wisdom and closer to God. He says "Defeating Evil," his testimony, "is a powerful spiritual ointment for those who read it, and hopes it serves as an example and help for anyone willing to listen and change their lives."
Scarborough shares how God delivered him from many low points in his life. In one example, he writes, "I was not working and no unemployment insurance, wondering about my bills, and as I am lying there feeling sorry for myself, I heard this bird; a crow flying right by my window with a loud craw. After that, I heard the voice of God our Father saying, 'Get up, and look for work.' I jumped up immediately, made some calls, and found a job, just like that. God is good. I thought I had messed up and He left me, but He did not. God is with us always, especially in our hard times. The Bible says, 'His love is made perfect in our times of burden, and hardships.' I can witness to that. As I write, I hope everyone reading this knows that God is still with you, and always will be. I dedicate this book to those struggling with life and righteousness. May this book bless you and help you navigate through life to bear the burdens of this world. May God make your path straight and remove all the obstacles in your way. God bless you!"
