"Few people have seen Hollywood, or life, from this perspective," Rick Avery, a veteran stuntman of over 500 film and TV projects, says of his new book, A Life at Risk, that reflects on his life and career. "This is a living where when your boss says 'Go big or go home' he means it literally, and you have to swallow your fear."

In the book, out now from Gilderoy Publishing, Avery dives into how he found his way into show business after serving as a Santa Barbara police officer working on the set of Burt Reynold's 1978 feature 'The End', before eventually getting into stunt work, acting, and directing. He credits his success to the "no quit" outlook he has had since his high school wrestling days. The army veteran says his hope for the book is "to put the spotlight on some of the less well-known, hardest working, but most exciting parts of movie making."

Avery's next project, 'Hands of Stone' with Robert De Niro, has allowed him to exercise his martial arts background once again. "I revel in a movie like this; where I get to stretch some of my boxing muscles, and with such a talented team." The film is due in theaters August 26th.
