Alan Ericsson's journey as a Navy pilot begins in Henry Faulkner's debut novel, "Sprouting Wings", the first installment of the Alan Ericsson Series. The historical fiction novel expertly weaves together adventure, love and historical fact to take readers back to the pre-World War II America of the early 1940s and to showcase the difficulties of daily life for American military men and women.

The first in a series of five novels, "Sprouting Wings" introduces readers to protagonist Alan Ericsson and follows his journey from rookie pilot to a respected member of a squadron. Through Alan, readers get a glimpse of life as a serviceman in an America on the brink of WWII. Readers also get a second perspective on the war through Alan's wife Jennifer, who works for the Office of Naval Intelligence and transfers to Pearl Harbor in August of 1941.

Although fiction, "Sprouting Wings" incorporates historical details, statistics and photographic illustrations to bring the story to life and leave the reader with a better understanding of the state of the U.S. prior to WWII. Author Henry Faulkner has used his hobbies of aviation and WWII history to create a rare story, as few historical novels focus on pre-WWII America and the effects of the budding war on the nation's military men and women. The introductory novel and the Alan Ericsson Series as a whole are sure to please WWII enthusiasts and any reader looking to escape into a good story.

"Sprouting Wings" is available everywhere books are sold.
