Have You Ever Wondered Where Birthday Magic Began? Image Birthdays are special! They come just once a year - bringing cake and presents, balloons and confetti, laughter and cheer, and someone special. Twins Jack and Maddie learn about the Birthday Fairy who comes to visit in Linda Kilponen and Sarah Gulbin's new children's book, "The Birthday Fairy" (published by Archway Publishing). The book is available for purchase at: https://www.amazon.com/Birthday-Fairy-Linda-Kilponen/dp/1480860360/.

Jack and Maddie are excited to celebrate their birthday because they know a surprise is in store for them. When they wake up, they find that their room is decorated with balloons, confetti, streamers and a large happy birthday sign with their names on it. After racing downstairs to tell their parents what happened, their mother explains that it is the work of the Birthday Fairy, who visits children once a year to make the day special for them.

Kilponen and Gulbin hope that their book inspires people "to take a new tradition to do with their children for their birthdays. A tradition that doesn't cost a lot of money and that anyone in any economic position can enjoy."

An excerpt from "The Birthday Fairy:"
"Touch your nose and make a wish
for gifts and cake on a golden dish.
Wiggle your toes and close your eyes.
You'll wake to find a big surprise!"

About the Author
Linda Kilponen grew up wearing party hats and eating homemade cupcakes with lots of sprinkles and icing for breakfast on her birthday. A former Radio City Rockette, Kilponen is a dance educator and an off-ice synchronized skating coach. She loves celebrating Birthday Fairy-style, with lots of confetti, at home with her husband, son, and daughter in Morris County, New Jersey. She can't decide between red velvet and vanilla as her favorite birthday cake.

Sarah Gulbin loves the magic of her birthday! She remembers waking up to find that the Birthday Fairy had decorated her room, or that of her five brothers and sisters, on each person's special day - even when she was a college student at Rutgers. Gulbin has taught dance and worked in preschools for many years. She lives in Somerset County, New Jersey. Her favorite birthday cake is ice cream cake with a cookie-crunch center.
