TARZANA, Calif.

When Renée Davis leaves for South Africa with her three friends to visit her mother and father - the United States ambassador - she expects to have the time of her life. Unfortunately for Renée and the others, a group of militants has other plans.

Author Harvey J. Williams takes readers to 1990s South Africa in his new novel "The Ambassador's Daughter" (published by iUniverse), in which Renée and company find themselves embroiled in a dangerous organization's plot to overthrow the South African government.

Following the hijacking of their plane, Renée and her friends are escorted from the plane by a group of militiamen who aim to take down the South African government and rewrite the South African constitution to preserve their power. Realizing they are now bargaining pieces, Renée and her group must find a way to break free from their captors before it's too late.

Following the 2013 protests in Egypt, Williams hopes his book will entertain readers while showing them how far some people are willing to go in the name of their cause.
