Authors pen tales inspired by the charitable works of the recipients of Harlequin's annual More Than Words Awards

TORONTO andNEW YORK, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Fictional accounts of heroism and selflessness are normally created in the minds of writers; however, that is far from the case in three new e-novellas from Harlequin authors Christi Barth, Andrea Laurence and Trish Milburn, who have breathed life into fictional narratives based on the heroic actions of the winners of Harlequin's 2014 More Than Words awards. For more than a decade, Harlequin's More Than Words program has recognized women who make a significant impact in their communities.

By popular vote, this year's winners include Linda Burston, support coordinator at the Women's Lunch Place in Boston, a place where homeless women can find sanctuary, increase their self-confidence and develop independence; Megan Yunn, president and founder of Beverly's Birthdays in Pittsburgh, an organization that throws birthday parties for underprivileged children; and Ann McGee, founder of Miracle Flights for Kids, a US organization that provides families with free flights to hospitals and treatment centers they could otherwise not reach because of financial hardship.

Encouraged by the dedication and compassion of the winners, all three Harlequin authors volunteered their time and talents to capture each woman's contributions on paper. Christi Barth's Never Too Late reflects the spirit and joy provided by Beverly's Birthdays; Andrea Laurence captures the heart and tenacity of Miracle Flights for Kids in A Wing & a Prayer; and A Place in Her Heart by Trish Milburn honors the services provided by the Women's Lunch Place.

"I was thrilled to be asked to take part in the Harlequin More Than Words program because I think it's wonderful that women such as Linda Burston, who are so giving to others, are honored for their service," said Trish Milburn. "When I found out about all the wonderful aid and programs available to women through the Women's Lunch Place, I was even more proud to be able to write a story that featured the organization."

All three stories are available in ebook format for free download from http://www.harlequinmorethanwords.com/novellas/ and through other ebook retailers.

The Harlequin More Than Words program is a philanthropic initiative that aims to raise awareness about worthy causes that are of concern to women and mobilize others to take action in their communities.
