In "How I Met My Dog" (published by iUniverse), author Brick D Hinkley presents an engrossing and educational story about a young woman's quest to adopt a dog. Hinkley is launching a marketing campaign to expand the book's reach.

Hinkley's inspiration for writing was a form of creation-without-intent: "I just started to draw the characters," he explains, "and decided to take them for a walk and events just went in the direction." From there, he followed the characters' lead.

An excerpt from "How I Met My Dog":
Sister said "Who is it?"
"I am not sure but I don't like the looks of him."
"Do you think he is the dog's owner?"
"I hope he is not but I am afraid he is."

Hinkley has gone to great lengths to ensure his tale is accessible for as many readers as possible: "All the illustrations are hand drawn," he says. "The fact that none of the characters have names means that they can be any one you want them to be."
