"The current system of health care delivery in the United States is seriously flawed," says author Ashraf A. Hilmy, M.D. "No other country in the world spends so much on health care and has so little to show for it." A surgeon by practice, Hilmy's experience makes him uniquely qualified to offer the advice found in his accessible new book "Health-Care Reform: A Surgeon's Perspective" (published by iUniverse).

"Health-Care Reform" examines the way health care is delivered in the United States and compares it to other health care delivery models across the world. Hilmy then analyzes the cost drivers that affect the cost of health care and gives specific, but anonymous, case examples to present constructive solutions to the broken system.

"It pains me to see so many of our citizens unable to receive quality, affordable health care because they cannot afford health insurance or are uninsurable because of pre-existing conditions," Hilmy writes. "It also pains me to see us squander our precious resources by delivering care at skyrocketing costs, much of which is unnecessary."
