CHICAGO, May 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ An award-winning author of four books on grieving the death of a friend has announced a partnership with Glenview-based Military Outreach USA.
"While researching my book, I learned about the concept of 'moral injury,'" says Victoria Noe, author of Friend Grief and the Military: Band of Friends. "Less well-known than PTSD, moral injury is a condition that has plagued those who go to war for thousands of years. In its most basic sense, it means the suffering that follows doing something against one's conscience."
"It is my pleasure to announce that 25% of the sale price of Friend Grief in the Military: Band of Friends will now benefit Military Outreach USA."
Military Outreach USA is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit which exists to encourage, engage, educate and equip individuals, houses of worship and organizations throughout the nation to provide a supporting role to our military community. This community is comprised of our military (active duty, guard, and reserves), veterans, and their families who are impacted by the visible and invisible wounds of military service. The support is provided through our national Military Caring Network. Our services are provided at no charge to any Military Caring House of Worship or Organization regardless of spiritual orientation, religious preference, race, or gender.
Major General (RET) James H. Mukoyama, Jr., co-founder of the organization, said about the partnership: "Military Outreach USA as a faith-based non-profit is solely dependent on the generosity of donors and therefore is extremely grateful to Victoria Noe for her generous gesture, but more importantly, for the comfort and encouragement provided to the public about providing healing to our military, veterans, and their families."
Friend Grief in the Military: Band of Friends is the fourth book in the Friend Grief series, focusing on military and non-combatants who struggle with the grief and guilt of losing their friends. In stories going back to the Civil War, readers learn too that "leave no one behind" is a life-long commitment.
Noe will be signing her book at Printers Row Lit Fest on Saturday, June 6 from 2-6 in the Chicago Writers Association tent and on Sunday, June 7 from 10-2 in the Rook Creek Books tent.
Friend Grief and the Military: Band of Friends is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, IndieBound and Kobo.
