A U.K.-based graphic novelist has released the second volume in his science fiction Next Testament series. In "Ratchwood Dilemma," author Duncan Watson continues the narrative of time-traveling antihero Ratchwood and delivers a profound examination of the human condition through the protagonist's addictive and meddling personality.

Set in the apocalyptic future, Ratchwood continues to pursue his mission of unifying world religion and secular culture. But when the reluctant messiah faces backlash from his doubting sidekick, Wicklow, a feud develops between the characters and Wicklow's questioning threatens to corrupt the disciple's relationship with Ratchwood entirely.

"The Ratchwood Prophecies are an attempt to communicate the 'incommunicable truth,' which is at the source of everything," Watson said. "These books attempt to present a unifying theory behind fractures in our universe, such as conflicting religions or ideologies, and offer a less obstructed viewpoint on what is needed for true harmony."

With an intricate plot and bold illustrations by Brian Bicknell, "Ratchwood Dilemma" delivers an entertaining and futuristic yarn about the shadowy adventures of an imperfect savior. Through his protagonist, Watson hopes to present a universal understanding of how the spiritual and cultural sectors fit together to nurture omni-religious peace and enlightenment.
