Granville Circle Press, publishers of the award-winning Living Proof: Telling Your Story to Make a Difference, has announced that the book's authors have launched a new blog focused on using personal stories for advocacy.

According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS), there are more than 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the U.S.; the majority of them rely on the personal stories of individuals to advance their causes or missions. Every day, people stand up and speak out, sharing their experiences as "living proof" of the need for awareness, education and change. The Living Proof Blog is offered for this vast number of everyday advocates and professional spokespersons, and features tips and inspiration to help them tell their stories powerfully. The blog also highlights individuals and organizations using the power of personal stories to make a difference in the world, and will explore the intersections of storytelling, advocacy and communication. For example, topics featured in the inaugural edition include an interview with Zach Wahls, the college student whose speech to the Iowa House of Representatives because a viral video; a feature on the Adversity 2 Advocacy Alliance; and thoughts on "dramatic" vs. "everyday" personal stories.

"Using our stories as agents of change is a very specific activity and communication challenge," says John Capecci, co-author with Timothy Cage of "Living Proof." "While there are countless resources available about personal storytelling, advocacy and persuasive communication, it's rare to find discussions that address how these skills come together." Cage adds, "That was the impetus for "Living Proof" and we want the blog to extend the guidance we offer in the book, providing advocates an online community of support for their efforts."

The first edition of the Living Proof Blog was published on June 25th, and can be viewed at http://www.livingproofadvocacy/blog. To stay updated on the latest blogs, the authors offer readers the ability to subscribe via an RSS feed or to a quarterly email that includes additional news and resources.
