Author Grant Blackwood, recently interviewed by online bookseller/owner of VJ Books, John Hutchinson, is knee deep in writing his second book with James Rollins in the new spinoff series based on Rollins' bestselling Sigma Force adventure novels. KILL SWITCH releases from Morrow May 2014, and features Former Army Ranger Tucker Wayne and his working dog Kane, who are sent deep into Russia to infiltrate the well-guarded labs and extract a brilliant scientist. KILL SWITCH has received several starred reviews.
Most know Grant best as Clive Cussler's co-author on the New York Times bestsellers SPARTAN GOLD, LOST EMPIRE, and THE KINGDOM. Or maybe you caught Grant's work as Tom Clancy's co-author of DEAD OR ALIVE, which spent three weeks at #1 on the New York Times list and three months in the top ten. Blackwood also penned a few books in Clancy's Splinter Cell Series using the pseudonym David Michaels.
"While Grant's work for others have topped the charts and been overwhelmingly received by fan and critic alike, the three books he wrote under his own name featuring super spy Briggs Tanner, THE END OF ENEMIES (2001), THE WALL OF NIGHT (2002) and AN ECHO OF WAR (2003) are still favorites of Grant's fans" reports long-time bookstore owner, John Hutchinson. "Briggs Tanner is coming to eBook format real soon and we are talking to Grant about having Norwood Press publish all three in collector hardcover editions. I like the Tanner series so much that I bought a sizable stock of The Wall of Night, books that Grant has graciously stored in garage for us for several years."
Besides being one of the hardest working authors in the genre (he's also working on his own new series), Grant lives in Colorado with his lovely wife, Julie. Julie, a graduate from the New York Institute of Photography is an accomplished photographer. VJ Books is taking pre-orders for signed editions of the new Sigma Force book KILL SWITCH on their website.
Book Synopsis
The mission seems simple enough: extract a pharmaceutical magnate from Russian soil, a volatile man who holds the secret to a deadly bio-weapon. But nothing is as it appears to be. A conspiracy of world-shattering scope unravels as Tucker and Kane struggle to keep one move ahead of their deadly enemies.
From the frozen steppes of Russia to the sun-blasted mountains of South Africa and Namibia, a biological threat millions of years in the making strikes out at the heart of America. All that stands in the way from a global apocalypse: one man and his dog. But can even Tucker and Kane thwart an ecological menace out of the ancient past to save the world's future?
Praise for James Rollins, Grant Blackwood and KILL SWITCH
"... a tightly woven plot that intrigues, excites, and doesn't let go...."
- Library Journal, Starred Review
(An) exceptional military thriller... introduces U.S. Army Ranger Tucker Wayne and his four-footed partner, a small Belgian shepherd named Kane. Rollins and Blackwood succeed in brilliantly at depicting interspecies communication.
-Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
"Combine Rin Tin Tin and James Bond, and you get Kane, a vastly appealing, smart, brave dog outfitted with the latest high-tech gadgetry for saving the world from some pretty horrible stuff. His pairing with handler Tucker Wayne - a former Army Ranger with similar qualities - makes for a riveting, smart page-turner."
-Maria Goodavage, New York Times bestselling author of Soldier Dogs
