The day before author Grace Hournbuckle Walker's 8-year-old son passed away, he shared with her his hope and anticipation for his future in heaven with Jesus. In "Now I Can Think Myself to Mars: A Son's Final Goodbye A Mother's Journal of Renewal" (published by iUniverse), Walker shares her son's final days and her personal journal of renewal and refocus to not only endure but flourish following tragedy.
"My purpose in sharing Nathan's last conversation and my journal is not to burden parents, family and friends with additional sadness," Walker says, "but to share one mother's journey of hope and strengthened faith in God."
Divided into four parts, the book first takes readers through a set of poems that traverse the thoughts Nathan shared with his mother and Walker's reflections on those thoughts. Part two brings in the writings of Nathan's father - Walker's husband - while part three returns to Walker's own inspirational writings. The concluding part shares the letters Walker wrote to her son.

About the Author
After 34 years as a nurse practitioner certified in both family practice and family psychiatric and mental health, Grace Hournbuckle Walker is now retired. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of New Mexico, a master's in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and a post-graduate certificate from the University of Cincinnati. During her last 12 years of practice, Walker specialized in post-traumatic stress disorder. Concurrently, she served on the University of Cincinnati faculty in both family and psychiatric nurse practitioner programs.
