Author Gloria D. Fondren shares the powerful, positive impact that her grandmother's support had on her life in her inspirational new memoir, "Praise and Poverty" (published by AuthorHouse).
"Praise echoed, crescendoed and transcended my life of poverty," Fondren explains. "Praise dissolved any notion of poverty. Praise shaped my innermost being and became a solid foundation for me growing up."
Despite the challenges Fondren faced as a child, her grandmother was always there to inspire, motivate and encourage her. Her story offers hope to young people who may be facing their own struggles and reminds parents and grandparents of the powerful effect they can have on the lives of children. "Praise and Poverty" shows how the past can be a positive influence or negative barrier in one's life while shedding light on the importance of spirituality and showing that no one is ever truly alone.
"When dealing with obstacles and trials resulting from poverty, a person's attitude about their circumstances may linger for a lifetime," Fondren writes. "Therefore, choosing to be a victor or victim can have a major impact on your life."
