Author Gina Mason drew inspiration from Alfred Noyes' famous poem "The Highwayman" to create the characters and plot for her new novel "Karmann Krist's Zylophila" (published by AuthorHouse).

Mason's main characters are Cheyenne Rivers - the reincarnation of Bess from Noyes' poem - and Anthony Preston - the reincarnation of the Highwayman, himself. Cheyenne is a well-respected healer, "wise-woman" and businesswoman who still has a lot to learn about life. Anthony feels he has no control over his life unless he is riding his motorcycle at top speed. When the two fall in love, they must learn to live with love, not fear.

In addition to the main storyline, Mason sprinkles throughout the story a few details from her real-life interests. She promotes the benevolence of pagans and witches rather than their perceived wickedness in an effort to abate any trepidation readers may have about modern-day nature worshippers.

These mystical characters add elements of holistic living and environmental respect to the story, while also aiding Cheyenne and Anthony in their journey toward a selfless relationship with each other.

"With this story, I tell of how these characters stand up to adversity to find love and beauty without putting down their enemies," Mason says. "It's about acceptance and letting people live their lives the way they see fit, as long as it harms no one."
