'German Leaves: Opposing Nazi Cannon with Words' is Released

Before the atrocities of the Holocaust occurred, anti-Semitic feelings and laws in Europe caused a mass exodus of thought leaders, known as a brain drain, to the United States through the 1930s and 1940s.

"German Leaves: Opposing Nazi Cannon with Words" is a compilation of exile literature written by German dissidents circa World War II curated by scholar Ralph Vander Heide, Ph.D. Through a mixture of articles, fiction and personal anecdotes, Vander Heide exposes the harsh realities of Nazi domination and explores the essence of the human experience.

For scholars, history buffs and amateurs alike, this historical collection encompasses all aspects of exile literature originating from Germany as a counterweight to Nazism inspiring readers to respect the sanctity of human life.

The author studied with John A. About the Author

Ralph Vander Heide earned his doctorate in Germanic and Hispanic studies from the State University of New York - Albany. He currently resides in Ogden, Utah with his wife, Judith, where he continues to travel and serve as an advisor to the Dean of Humanities at Weber State University.
