Gene Olsen Releases New Children's Book, GNOMES IN THE BARN

"What if there were other species that lived here among us? How would they view the world and humans?" These are the questions author Gene Olsen had in mind when he heard about little people who go unnoticed as they occupied barns and hoarded stuff from the household when he visited Denmark. In his new book, titled Gnomes in the Barn, he crafts a dulcet story out from this Scandinavian folklore characters often blamed for any mischief that took place to engage the imagination of children, leaving them clamoring for their parents to go over the story once again.

Mythical people-like creatures-or creature-like people-take center stage in this illustrated book. Gnomes, as they are called, are little humanoid creatures the height of less than half a foot. By and large, their features closely resemble that of humans, only with slightly larger honkers and puffier cheeks. One can easily tell which gnome belongs to this or that family, thanks to the fact that each member wears and flaunts the family's favorite color. They are notorious pancake lovers, that is, on top of rice puddings, chocolates and anything sweet. Above all, gnomes think of humans as big and clumsy, solely existing to build and provide them food and shelter.

Readers can follow this whimsical tale that allows them to witness the exploits of a whole clan of gleeful, and sometimes crotchety, gnomes.
