In his new book "Tusks" (published by Trafford Publishing), author Gene Hale plants a gun-slinging, dead-shot cowboy in the vast savannahs of Central Africa. An action-packed adventure story, the novel takes the reader on a thrilling roller-coaster ride as his hero, Cheyenne Cole, battles the forces of evil.

With a colorful cast of characters and a fast-paced storyline, "Tusks" exposes the slaughter and destruction of elephants to fuel the ivory trade. Honoring his father's dying wish, Cheyenne, a cowboy and ex-marine, with a lightning-fast draw, embarks on a quest to save the elephants of Africa. Poachers and ivory hunters are decimating the elephant population, and Cheyenne and his friends are determined to stop them.

In addition to entertaining his readers, Hale hopes his book inspires a greater concern towards the slaughter of elephants in Africa.

"This is happening today," says Hale of brutal ivory trade practices. "The cruelty of animals still goes on today."
