In "Maya in Motion: Otherscent" (published by iUniverse), Fredrik Zander's new book of poems, readers are given a lyrical, insightful look into various senses and meanings specific to ancient Maya.

Zander describes "Maya in Motion" as "poetry with Maya in its various senses as its main theme." He engages readers in the subject, posing constructive questions to prompt discussion and advancement. He concludes his work by expanding on the Mayan calendar, as well as other topics which have relevance in today's world.

An excerpt from the poem "Faster Than the Speed of Light":

"There's naturally no sense
In all of us to know
Why stars exist in harmony;
A problem yet to show."

Zander often notices a tendency in people to adopt theoretical concepts from science as an explanation of the entire picture of reality. "The book can serve a point in putting matters like these in a slightly novel perspective," he says.
