Two high school sweethearts, old friends, find themselves back in old territory. The stakes, though, are now different as they have matured-the man himself a famous novelist. Frank Johnson meets Maureen Dolce, his high school sweetheart, again, on the old Connecticut lakeshore town of their youth. Frank has not married and Maureen Dolce is divorced, and both are now experienced adults. The flame of old romantic fires are rekindled and love explodes into torrid sexual encounters. It eventually leads to a proposal and marriage but ends tragically due to an untreatable disease that causes the death of Frank's beloved wife and unborn child.

The tragedy pulls Frank into deepest sorrow, it hardens his heart toward his religion and God, whom he angrily denounces and blames as the cause of his loss. The pervasive grief eventually comes to affect his health. At that point, he gives away a vast fortune to his wife's family, wealth accumulated from the royalties of published novels and movies which were made from them. He refuses the ministrations of a priest in his deathbed, managing a final Act of Contrition before he heard his wife calling out his name by a window to the lake. Strangely (that word again) magnetic, filled silences and deep passion, Frank Jarnot's Unexpected Meeting invites all readers into an introspective world of undying love.

Frank R. Jarnot is a musician, inventor, author and industrialist. His applied educational disciplines combined with his extensive experience gained in manufacturing over the years eventually lead him to establish/found the Airlette Manufacturing Corporation ('76) based in Lantana, Florida. The firm grew/flourished over the years due to its unique innovated products which are manufactured to military quality standards/specifications. His firm proudly boasts of its 'unconditional' product guarantee in conjunction with a thirty year history/record of zero defects. The Airlette products are now utilized in many industries throughout the world. The author currently provides his service to the firm as a consultant (mechanical design/engineering) and to other firms/institutions, and currently maintains the position of C.E.O. of his viable corporation. Frank Jarnot has acquired over a dozen personal patents to his credit(s), and his name appears on over fifty industrial type patents which lists his name as a contributor. The author also played jazz trumpeter and acted as orchestrator in his youth. During the so-called Bebop era, he played with the Sammy Kimble group which later toured Japan, Korea and Okinawa (during the mid-50's) for several months. He played lead trumpet in a USO type show called 'Swing for Sixty.' This touring show emulated the Big Band sounds of Count Basie. He was featured as a trumpet soloist with his band in a number called 'The Blues' which was also performed for the Japanese public via Tokyo Television. He has written and illustrated a children's book titled Seymour the Seagull, the adventures of a peculiar seagull who was afraid of water which he considered to be a labor of love, and insisted to limit the publication of the book to only several copies to make it an exclusive gift for his grandchildren (namely, Michael, Zachary, Alexander & Nicholas), to whom he each presented a finished book copy on a past Christmas day.
