Fight for Ukrainian Democracy Revealed in THE PRICE OF FREEDOM

Author Tatiana Lysenko tells the thrilling story of the first female accredited Ukrainian journalist in the U.S. in her new fiction novel, "The Price of Freedom" (published by Lulu), inspired by true events.

"The Price of Freedom" follows the life of Slava, a semi-fictitious Ukrainian reporter whose anti-totalitarian beliefs and love of democracy drive her to flee her home country for fear of government persecution.

"Ukrainian people are awakening," Lysenko says. "They want to live in a democratic European country, and I tell in my book the truth about the reality of present-day Ukraine, why people fight for their freedom and human rights today."

"My grandmother's death changed all. I began to question my choices and wondered if my drive and dreams were waste. After all, if human life is worth so little, why strive for anything? I found myself losing interest in what used to excite me... But then one day, as I was strolling through the street of my new homeland, I saw a little flower peering through the thick snow spread on the field like white frosting ... Although it looked very fragile, it was obviously also very strong. And as I was inspecting that little purple flower, I saw my drive and determination gathered on the purple petals."

About the Author
Tatiana Lysenko earned a PhD from the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University. She is a former professor at George Washington University and is well known for her numerous publications about ancient history and culture of the Slavic world. Lysenko has also written and co-authored several books in Ukrainian. She is listed in the 2010 Gold Book of Ukraine and the 2012 version of "The Woman Face of Ukraine."
