Female Hero Travels to an Ancient Planet to Restore World's Balance Image In Tracy Simmonds' debut fantasy novel, "The Quinary" (published by Balboa Press AU), a young woman discovers she is the missing member of an ancient council. In order to restore balance to the world, she must forget her past and find the key to controlling her power.

Addy Piper is frustrated and lonely, with an immense force growing inside of her. Trapped in Darton Village on Earth, she feels abandoned by her family and yearns to be surrounded by caring people. On a faraway planet called Thear, an ancient Council called the Quinary seek their missing member so that they can conquer the rising evil, Ternion. Addy must take her place on the Council and step into her power.

Simmonds created Addy as a modern female hero who yearns to find her place in the world. Held down by her lack of self-esteem and belief that she does not hold up to social standards, Addy is uncertain about whether she truly is the key to restoring harmony to the universe. Her journey is both one of action and of soul-searching. Addy's search to find her place in the world is what Simmonds hopes will help make Addy relatable to young women in particular.

"I think the idea that you can be a little different from the norm and still have the power to make a change is what makes this story so relevant," says Simmonds.
