VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ "Forgotten Word," the popular novel by Sam Jane Brown, which mixes an action-packed murder mystery with a profound vision of the Second Coming, is anticipating world religious trends, the author shared. From the rise of Islamic extremism to predictions of the Second Coming by Christian theologians and observations of the "Footsteps of the Messiah" by prominent Jewish leaders, the book aligns with the world's seeming march to a transcendent religious experience. "Forgotten Word" makes the unusual assertion that the Second Coming will feature a Savior who is a woman.

"The world is in a state of flux and dismay and clearly at a crossroads of faith and destiny," said Brown. Which is worse the church or your governments?
Certainly, religious awareness and potential conflict is accelerating worldwide. In the UK, The Prince of Wales has warned of the dangers of radicalisation, according to the BBC. Prince Charles commented, "The frightening part is that people can be so radicalised either through contact with somebody else or through the internet, and the extraordinary amount of crazy stuff which is on the internet." As the BBC noted, this issue has been brought up in other government contexts.
The BBC also reported, "Muslims say there should be no pressure on them to speak and they should not have to prove their legitimacy as citizens. But it is easier said than done, as Communities Secretary Eric Pickles found when he wrote an open letter a few weeks ago to 1,000 Islamic leaders asking for their help in dealing with radicalisation. His co-signatory was Lord Ahmad, who just happens to be Muslim. Not that it helped much. The letter got short shrift in some quarters."
Religious Christians see world events as approaching The Rapture. The 2016 Bible Prophecy Timeline, for example, views world events as nearing the end time bible prophecy. The site links Jeremiah 49 with the current invasion of Syria from the Turkish border - expecting Damascus to be destroyed. The site's author stated, "I think that Satan will fall before the Turkish led invasion into Israel called Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38 (Rev 12:15)."
Many Jews also view current religious and geopolitical trends as predicting the arrival of The Messiah. Many leading Jewish sources point to current events and see in them, the "Birth pangs of Moshiach" the Hebrew word for "Messiah." Signs of "Moshiach" include conflict in the Middle East, the rise of radical Islam, the seemingly endless increase in corruption and financial crime, and more. The site Hebrew4christians.com commented, "The institutionalized church has been asleep for years now, either colluding with the world or else self-destructing through postmodern despair. Thinking Christians find themselves alienated from other Christian communities. The voice of the prophet has been squelched and ghettoized."
"Forgotten Word" follows many of these themes. It is set in a world of high intrigue in the church. Brown's novel uses the murder of Catholic priests as the catalyst to tell its story of the impending Second Coming. In the story, Zena McGrath, an international detective, is tasked with solving the murders. Her investigation leads her to the Vatican, where she meets a mysterious priest. In New York, she becomes aware of an evil presence following her. Ultimately, she goes to the Holy Land as the perpetrators of the crime are revealed. The book culminates in a climactic Second Coming, in which the "Christ" figure is a woman.
