GEORGETOWN, Calif. - Author Donna Bender Hood takes readers to the small rural community of Meridian, Wyo., a charming place where the simple lives of several characters become unexpectedly complicated and fraught with surprises. In "Flint Mesa" (published by Xlibris), earlier life choices come back to those who thought that they have evaded the fates they have made for themselves, resulting in dramas between families, friends and lovers.
The narrative follows Lynette Forrester and Cody Lynch, who are both searching for their possible family ties and in doing so cross paths with several people trying to make their lives better, but not always in the right way. Cody is not looking for love, but if it should come his way, he wants what he sees shared by his grandparents. Never would he expect to have to delve into dark family secrets to get what he wants. The story also portrays Ruth Dunmore's search for real honest love, but this seems impossible when the Reverend Isaiah Dunmore receives his newest heavenly calling. In all these tales, passion and longing are contrasted with duties, responsibilities and circumstances resulting from the actions of others. Choices must be made, independence had, but their paths in life are fraught with twists and turns.
Readers will see these people reap the result of their actions as they interact and strive to find what's best for themselves and those they treasure. "Flint Mesa" is a light and pleasant literary experience portraying interesting lives and circumstances,

She is retired from the telecommunications industry and a great grandmother. Retirement gave her the time to do two things she enjoys: writing and quilting. For the past 19 years, the members have stitched a quilt, sold raffle tickets, hosted an excellent outdoor quilt show, and donated the proceeds to their volunteer fire department.
