In "The Little Ant and the Apple Tree" (published by Trafford Publishing), educator Evelyn Razilov's new children's storybook, young readers are taught lessons about patience and understanding in a vibrantly illustrated adventure.

Razilov set out to write "The Little Ant and the Apple Tree" with the intention of creating something interesting for her 4-year-old daughter. She wanted to teach her daughter a lesson that was as helpful as it was fun to learn. "The whole book teaches the child that screaming or disobedience will not lead to the desired goal," explains Razilov. "It also gives information for the parents."

An excerpt from "The Little Ant and the Apple Tree":

"The wise ant said, 'You know, little ant, that you can't go on the ground without the older ants.'

The little ant just nodded his head.

The wise ant looked at him and said,

'It looks like you learned from your mistake, but for your safety, you have to think before doing your first steps for adventure-the world could be very dangerous for us, if we are not going to take care of ourselves.'"

Razilov supplies activities for children at the end of the book. "I learned about the importance of teaching children through storybooks by working with children and studying early childhood education," she says. "All this helped me to write a book that shows children the importance of being patient. Of course the book is not enough. Parents and teachers have to be good role models for little ones."
