European Decorative Art of the XIXth Century by Fabio Thaci is an art book for the ages. Useful for the professional and student alike, it will amaze and delight anyone interested in the magnificent decorative art of the 19th century. Giants of the art world such as Klimt are here, as well as lesser known names. Professional designers will find in page after page of this book, ideas that will stimulate their imaginations and improve their craft immeasurably
Thaci, son of an Italian mother and Albanian father, said he learned his art from studying the paintings of Michelangelo in Italy. "I know about texture, plaster, color; I studied frescoes. I am an artist," he said. When Thaci first came to the U.S. in 1994, his paintings were featured in three or four exhibitions. But recognition came when he started in the decorating business, executing designs for Italian restaurants. Now his artistry graces some of the most luxurious homes on Staten Island. And, in at least one of them, he has worked his magic on such a grand scale, the visitor feels transported to the ancient churches, palaces and museums where Fabio Thaci studied his craft.
