After the successful publication of her book, "The Underground Railroad, Ties That Bound Unveiled", in 1999, author Emma Marie Trusty returns to the literary limelight with a new, engaging tour de force. This time, she will captivate her readers through a wonderful and exciting story of a young boy's promising journey in Samuel's Journey.
This fascinating book introduces the readers to Samuel, a young boy, who is born around 1790. He is curious and this curiosity led him to become aware that his family is keeping a secret. His older brother Joshua knows what it is but won't tell him. Already 14 years old, Samuel believes that he can be trusted also just like his brother who is 16. When Joshua returns to the Quaker school, he leaves more responsibility on Samuel who then begins to take on chores Joshua once did.
The story takes a progressive turn when one dark night, Samuel awakens to Pal's barking. He peeks through a crack in the loft door and sees Pa bringing strangers in tattered, dirty clothes into their kitchen. Will Pa explain all this to him in the morning? This event will just set off Samuel's adventures and journey with those around him. Samuel's Journey will surely give the readers a worthwhile experience, an unforgettable adventure, and a lesson-filled literary ride of a lifetime.
In Samuel's Journey, Trusty has written a wonderful tale that will not only entertain the readers, but will also leave something valuable for them to emulate-a richly layered story of life, youth, relationships, compassion, and so much more.
