Elsevier Presents Four New Books on Nuclear Engineering

WALTHAM, MA - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the publication of four new nuclear engineering books of particular interest to safety managers, designers, engineers, operators and regulators of nuclear power plants. Among these new books is The 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident: How and Why It Happened, written by Yotaro Hatamura, Seiji Abe, Masao Fuchigami and Naoto Kasahara, and translated by Kenji Iino.

Written by committee members of the official Japanese government investigation panel, The 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident outlines the main sequence of events of the March 2011 accident, considers the responses of central and local government, and evaluates the response of the plant owner TEPCO. It describes and assesses the effectiveness of the evacuation process and subsequent decontamination of the site and local area. The book also offers recommendations for improving the safe design and operation of nuclear power plants.
