Elizabeth Jordan faced the weight of loss, depression, alcohol abuse, and attempted suicide before she was able to dig her way out of the abyss of hell to find a hope and a reason to go on.
At a young age, Jordan lost her first boyfriend, and later her fiance in separate accidents. Ensuing depression led her to crawl into a bottle of vodka to cope with her loss. Just when she thought her life was back on track, she became the victim of a botched surgery. As she struggled to recover from not only the botched surgery, but many subsequent surgeries to repair the damage, she dealt with horrific pain daily. The pain became so ghastly that she could not bear to deal with it and attempted suicide. At this time, she was also caring for her aging parents. Her father, suffering from Alzheimer's often did not recognize her or told her she was no longer his daughter.
The memoir was written from journals and diaries Jordan kept along the way and expresses her raw emotions as she felt them at the time. Jordan speaks honestly about her feelings while struggling to care for her parents, dealing with the emotional reality of signing a DNR order to remove her mother from life support, and losing those she loved dearly unexpectedly.
The Darkness of My Shattered Heart is a brutally honest look into Jordan's heartbreaking life but with an uplifting message. Elizabeth Jordan would like to inspire others to never give up no matter what life gives you to deal with at the moment. She learned she is much stronger than she thought she was and that she could handle situations she never imagined was possible.
Elizabeth Jordan is an award winning photographer, model, activist for animal rights, supporter of cancer causes and Alzheimer's research. She graduated with honors from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science focused on Psychology and Sociology.
