Eleanor Zeitlen Avinor, Ph.D., Celebrated as Co-Inventor of KEG Cards Image

HAIFA, Israel, Oct. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/  Eleanor Zeitlen Avinor, Ph.D., MSc, MA, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A dedicated marriage and family therapist with a background in education, Dr. Avinor has achieved international acclaim as the co-inventor of KEG Cards. Short for "Keys to Emotional Growth," KEG Cards were created with the intention of helping individuals develop a better understanding of their innermost thoughts and feelings. These effective therapy and coaching cards feature original artwork on one side, with guiding questions on the other, allowing for a seemingly endless supply of prompts for reflection. Since their initial release in 2009, KEG Cards have been used by a wide range of therapists and counselors, though they may also be used alone. As KEG Cards have continued to gain popularity, Dr. Avinor has been invited to speak at a variety of conferences throughout the world. She most recently delivered a presentation about the ways in which KEG Cards may help adults with autism at a 2018 conference in Holland.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1940, Dr. Avinor is the daughter of Joseph George Zeitlen and Frances Rita Dunn Zeitlen. She pursued formal education at the University of Haifa, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1970 and a Master of Arts in 1981. During this time, Dr. Avinor launched a successful career as a researcher and teacher with the school, remaining in this position from 1972 to 2009. She went on to earn a Doctor of Education through the University of New Mexico in 1990 before completing additional coursework in redecision therapy and psychotherapy. At the turn of the century, Dr. Avinor was selected to receive the Rector's Committee Grant to Create Internet Modules for Foreign Language Courses. She now holds a Master of Science in psychotherapy from the University of Derby.

Considered an expert of psychology, mental health, counseling and psychological assessment, Dr. Avinor credits her educational background with guiding her toward these fields. While working as a teacher and counselor in a crisis center early in her career, she realized the tactics she learned as an educator would not be enough to help people on a deeper level. At that point, she set to work, first receiving additional training in the field and then launching a private mental health care practice as a psychotherapist in 2007. Dr. Avinor has been recognized as the academic chief executive officer of KEG Cards International since 2013 and currently maintains involvement with the Israeli Association for Marital and Family Therapy.

Over the years, Dr. Avinor has been credited as an author or co-author of a wide range of publications, including "CMC among multilingual students of English for academic purposes: linguistic and sociolinguistic communicative factors in online written responses," "Circassian Israelis: Multilingualism as a way of life" and "A description of language attitudes and achievements of Russian immigrant students at Haifa University." Her most recent authored work, "Shirley: There is Not Enough," was published in the Psychology and Behavioral Science International Journal by Juniper Publishers in 2017.
