'El autómata insurrecto' discusses the human brain's role in evolution

Author and physician Edgar Prieto Nagel's new book, "El autómata insurrecto: Biología, cerebro, civilización" (published by AuthorHouse UK), written in Spanish, traces the evolution of the human brain to better explain the origins of life from a nonreligious point of view and where the author believes civilization is headed.

Prieto defines the changes of civilization as a natural and compulsory process of overcoming genetic limits. He focuses his discussion on the origins of life, taking a secular position that disregards all religious ideals in favor of scientific discoveries.

Prieto further states that the brain is the structure solely in charge of humanity's evolution. Rather than evolving based on new genetic occurrences, the brain, Prieto asserts, evolves through different synaptic combinations.

"El autómata insurrecto" combines the research of well-known neuroscientists with Prieto's personal research and clinical experience. Through his book, Prieto hopes to spread a better understand the evolutionary process to a wider audience.

"There is a vacuum concerning a secular explanation of why there is a human civilization, why this civilization tends spontaneously to progress and which direction this progress points to," Prieto writes. "The biological mechanisms behind the process are explained in a way easy to understand even if the reader doesn´t have a prior knowledge in biology."
