Edmond Woman Releases First Book

A wife, mother and businesswoman, Judith Ingalsbe has endured more heartache in over a decade than most people ever experience. Judith's grandmother, mother and veteran father all had Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells, or neurons, resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes.

"Stone Benches, Understanding the Invisible Footprints of Dementia" chronicles Ms. Ingalsbe's story from struggle to understanding the disease of dementia while caring for her parents, both diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Ms. Ingalsbe shares her journey from the tragedy of the diagnosis to the wonderful moments of love and understanding experienced by being present with a loved one facing this disease.

Ms. Ingalsbe shares her family's story of the day to day caring for a loved one living with dementia. Her journey recalls the stories of her family and others who are facing this disease. She hopes through reading about her journey others will embrace every day of this awful disease with courage, passion, and understanding. Ms. Ingalsbe's goal is to make sure loved ones who have Alzheimer's are not forgotten and raising awareness through #TheyHaveAName campaign. On April 3-6, Ms. Ingalsbe will embark on a trip of a lifetime as she heads to the Nation's Capital in Washington, DC to educate Congress on the needs of those living with Alzheimer's, their caregivers and family members. "This disease demands our attention" stated Ms. Ingalsbe. " We need answers we simply do not have and we need them quickly." "It is time we call in reinforcements, ask our legislators for help, and get our loved ones fitted with life vests." "This storm will not calm until we do."

According to a 2015 Alzheimer's Association report, there are an estimated 5.3 million Americans suffering from this disease. It can strike anyone and doesn't discriminate based on your social life, how much money you make, your age, your ethnicity. If you are human, you can get Alzheimer's.
