EBMA Names Jane Yolen Winner Of The 40th Annual Jeremiah Ludington Memorial Award  Image

WARRENTON, Va., Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ The Educational Book and Media Association (EBMA) today announced that Jane Yolen is the recipient of the 2018 Jeremiah Ludington Award. The award, named after EBMA's founder, is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the educational book business. Past winners include Kate DiCamillo, David Wiesner, Brian Selznick, Ashley Bryan, Jon Scieszka, Kevin Henkes, Sharon Draper, and Pam Muoz Ryan.

Jane Yolen is the author of more than 365 books, including Mapping the Bones, Owl Moon, The Devil's Arithmetic and How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? She has been called the Hans Christian Anderson of America and the Aesop of the twentieth century. Her books and stories have won the Caldecott Medal, two Nebula Awards, two Christopher Medals, the World Fantasy Award, three Mythopoeic Fantasy Awards, the Golden Kite Award, the Jewish Book Award, the World Fantasy Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Association of Jewish Libraries Award among many others.

Ms. Yolen will accept the Ludington Award at EBMA's annual conference in Austin, TX in January 2019. As part of the award, EBMA will present a $2,500 check to the charity of Ms. Yolen's choice.
