Dr. Sherry A. Meltz, a breast cancer survivor, Psy.D. in psychology, optimist, writer and author, has completed her newest work "My Tale of Two Titties": a gripping and unique autobiography that puts an entertaining twist to an emotionally challenging issue.
In January 2001, Dr. Sherry Meltz was diagnosed with breast cancer known as invasive ductal cell carcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer in women. Statistically, one out of every eight women will be receiving this diagnosis. It was for this reason that she met the challenge ahead with a sense of humor and tenacious optimism. Realizing that the mind, body and spirit must work in tandem to promote total wellness, Dr. Meltz decided to record and write the most humorous aspects of her journey, many involving her family, friends and her "four legged, furry children!"
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Dr. Sherry A. Meltz's poignant tale takes a positive outlook and persuades the reader to see that there is good in every situation.
"This is a book about Thelma and Louise, and probably not the ones that may first come to mind. Thelma and Louise are the given names to my prosthetics post my breast cancer surgery. My diagnosis resulted in the removal of both breasts. This is not the "funny part."
Although there are very few humorous accounts about cancer, (I know because I looked for some!), I felt it was time to journal humorous moments with family, friends and "the girls!" This is the finished product of those accounts.
These "girls" have adorned everyone from drag queens to drama queens. They were discovered in the back yard when one of my dogs concluded that the left one looked more like a tennis ball. They have been discovered in my husband's glove compartment when he was stopped by a police officer. Reaching in for his license, there they were.
I hope you enjoy sharing my remarkable journey with someone who needs to be reminded that laughter is, indeed, the best medicine of all," said author Dr. Sherry A. Meltz.
Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase "My Tale of Two Titties" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
