"The vision of what man can become at his noblest and best is in danger of being lost in a Postmodern World," author Richard E. Bailey, Ph. D. warns readers in his new book, "Understanding Self and Others in the Postmodern World" (published by AuthorHouse). Dr. Bailey offers his theories to offset this danger.

"Understanding Self and Others in the Postmodern World" is unlike most books directed at giving people insight into themselves - it addresses those who want to think about their lives, relationships with others, how Western culture has arrived at the Postmodern World and how to go forward.

This book examines seven different worldviews that have become dominant for periods of time in the history of Western culture. Bailey explains that, although all worldviews share the same structure and characteristics, they vary markedly in their contents, and in the kind of people they create. This book empowers readers to understand and communicate across worldviews.

"Man's pride leads him to a state of arrogance in which he seeks power, wealth, status, privilege, and freedom to live like a God," Bailey warns. Escape from this pride, he says, is only found "through the experience of humility, which leads the soul to new knowledge and a new life." This requires "doing one's own thinking," the last thing man has learned in his evolutionary development, the thing he does least well and least often.
