Frances: The Artist, Art Therapy, and The Alzheimer's Patient by author Dr. Neysa T. Sensenig is all set to join the 2013 New York State Reading Association Book Exhibit in Albany, N.Y., on October 27-30, 2013. This book is expected to give more information and understanding on Alzheimer's disease.
This book contains a collection of photographs that emphasizes the effects creating art had on one Alzheimer's patient - Frances G. Thomas. Her daughter, Christine, provided a home and assisted-living needs. Here, readers will learn that this living arrangement developed into a journey of an Alzheimer's patient and her caregiver. Through Christine's interests and contacts, Frances was introduced to sculpting. A visit to the art studio of Debra Flocco in Haverstraw, N.Y., inspired these photographs of Frances sculpting in a safe environment.
In Frances: The Artist, Art Therapy, and The Alzheimer's Patient, Sensenig has written an interesting and useful book that will encourage continued research in the field of art therapy for other Alzheimer's patients. This is a must-have for photography enthusiasts and readers who are concerned with the disease.
