OWENSBORO, Ky.

A little girl seems to grow up before her father's eyes during a story-time marathon in Steve Montgomery, M.D.'s bedtime story for parents and children, "The Longest Storytime" (published by AuthorHouse).

Dr. Montgomery is renewing his marketing campaign for "The Longest Storytime" as he strives to reach more parents with his message about the importance of spending quality time with their children.

"Patience and self-sacrifice by the parent pays off," Montgomery says. "Express love towards your child, spend time with them, be patient, appreciate them."

Inspired by his own daughter, Montgomery's tale depicts a charming 6-year-old girl named Rebecca whose father is reading her bedtime stories. After the usual three books have been read, Rebecca announces she is not tired and gets all the books she can carry from her room. When her father protests that he is too tired to keep reading she proudly reads to him. He shows great patience by allowing her to read many more books despite his fatigue.

The father dozes off as Rebecca reads and, to his dismay, he awakes to see his hair is gray, he has grown a long beard and Rebecca has aged by years. Even their cute kitten is now a cat. Fortunately, this unexpected occurrence is only a dream.

Montgomery appeals to children who yearn to grow up fast and show what they have learned, but he hopes his whimsical story will remind parents how important it is to spend quality time with their children before those cherished childhood years are really over.
