Dr. Mary Ruggiero has had the opportunity to touch someone's life and benefit from it as well. She relives her life and times as well as her encounter with Roger Etienne in this absorbing memoir. "Roger Etienne: Journey in Search of an Artist" (published by AuthorHouse) tells how one man's incredible journey became his greatest artwork.

"Journey in Search of an Artist" follows the author, Mary Ruggiero, a hardworking business woman who finds herself while pursuing art and, in so doing, befriends the artist himself: Roger Etienne-a charismatic Belgian who performed bit-parts during Hollywood's Golden Age of cinema and crossed paths with the greats from Clint Eastwood to Marilyn Monroe.

While in Europe, Etienne took part in the French Resistance during World War II and apprenticed under Pablo Picasso in his youth. Wrought with secrets and insecurities stemming from paternal neglect and intimate betrayals, Etienne was pleased to finally find a true friend in the author who helped him come to terms with his mortality while making amends with his wife. The friendship was healing for both the author and her subject who found purpose in their final years.

As its title suggests, "Journey in Search of an Artist" emphasizes the importance of going places in life; taking risks to achieve something worthwhile, and overcoming obstacles in pursuit of fulfillment. This book deals with truth; confronting one's past mistakes rather than hiding behind a façade of contentment. Instead of suppressing pain experienced from infidelity, disease and abuse, this book urges readers to face their hardship head on in order to truly heal and embark upon a journey of their own.
